Before You Start Therapy

Which states can you see clients in?

I am licensed in both North Carolina and California. I also have an E.Passport through PSYPACT which allows me to see clients in 34+ states via telehealth. Check out the most updated map here to see which states are in PSYPACT.

Do you take insurance?

For California and North Carolina

I am in-network with the following health insurance providers:

Aetna
Optum

United Healthcare

Prior to beginning therapy, we can verify your eligibility for in-network coverage so you have a clear understanding of whether your health insurance covers mental health services and what (if any) you'll pay for co-pays.

For other insurance providers and in PSYPACT states:

I'm currently Out-of-Network (OON) with all other insurance providers and in all PSYPACT states. What this means is while I do not bill your insurance provider directly, I can provide you a Superbill (itemized receipt) that includes all the information you need to receive reimbursement from your insurance provider if they reimburse for OON providers. Many of my clients get partial reimbursement, however, if you want to use OON benefits, I recommend you call your insurance provider and clarify what they cover. It is the client’s responsibility to understand their insurance plans and seek information about their company’s reimbursement process.

There are many benefits for clients who choose private pay therapy instead of using insurance, including:

Freedom to choose a therapist who is the best fit for your needs
Freedom for you and your therapist to determine the course and length of treatment
Increased confidentiality as your therapist will not have to share your treatment and diagnosis with an insurance company
No restrictions on online therapy
You can continue to work with the same therapist even if your insurance changes

What are your rates?

Typical 53 minute Psychotherapy session is $225

I offer 25 minute Psychotherapy sessions for clients who are in a more maintenance phase of treatment for $115 per session.

I have sliding scale fees for those who finances are a barrier to therapy. If this is you, just ask about sliding scale rates during a free 15 minute consultation.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

What do I need for telehealth?

My clients love telehealth because it gives them more freedom and flexibility around when they can see me while also making it easier to fit in every week without having to deal with commuting to an office.

Plus it ensures that even if they don't live near me, they can still benefit from working with a therapist they feel is the best fit.

All you need for telehealth is a private space (office, bedroom, home, outdoor space), stable internet connection, and either a laptop or desktop computer or a smart phone or tablet.

What days/times do you work?

I work from 8 AM to 6 PM Eastern Time, Monday thru Friday.

That is also:

Pacific Time: 5 AM to 3 PM

Mountain Time: 6 AM to 4 PM

Central Time: 7 AM to 5 PM

Some clients have flexible schedules and schedule a different day/time every week. Other clients like having a consistent day/time for sessions. Either works, dependent on availability.

How do I prononuce your name? & other random info about me.

You are free to call me Jessica, Dr. Jessica, or Dr. Borushok, whichever feels most comfortable to you. My last name has a silent 'u' in it so it can feel confusing to pronounce but it's quite simple.

It's "boar" like the animal or "bore" like I'm boring you + "shock" like you're surprised.

It's 100% okay if you mispronounce my name by mistake; it happens and I'll just quickly correct it. Please feel free to do the same to me if I accidentally mispronounce your name.

I'll also introduce myself during your free 15 minute consultation so you'll get to hear it.

My pronouns are she/her.

I have a Siberian Husky named Oliver/Ollie. I mention this only as you might see a fluffy tail in the background of our sessions at times. You can always request to see him :)

You may notice me look down occasionally or hear the sound of typing. That's just me typing a few notes for our session.

What is your cancellation policy?

You may cancel or reschedule your appointment with no fee up to 24 hours before your appointment. You can cancel via email, text, or voicemail. The day/time you cancel will be honored even if I don't see it until later.

You will be expected to pay a $100 late cancellation fee if you cancel within 24 hours or do not show up for your appointment.
The only exceptions that will be made are for emergencies (i.e., death or birth in the family, an accident) or serious illnesses or injuries of yourself or someone you care for. Work or travel-related conflicts will not be exceptions to this policy. This policy is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you feel you are getting sick and might need to cancel, please reach out to me and we can discuss the best option.
